Does Section Store Work on the New Horizon Theme?

Short answer: yes. Section Store sections install and work on Shopify’s new Horizon theme. This guide explains what to expect, why a section might look a little plain at first, and how to make it match your store in a couple of minutes.

What changed with Horizon

Horizon is Shopify’s new default theme for stores created from 2026 onward. It’s built differently from older themes like Dawn, and it leans heavily on your store’s saved fonts, colors, and button styles. Our sections are designed to work across all Online Store 2.0 themes, including Horizon, so you can add and use them normally.

How to add a section on Horizon

Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
Choose the page and area where you want the section.
Click Add section and pick your Section Store section.
Adjust its settings in the right-hand panel like any other section.

Why a section might look “plain” at first, and the fix

Because our sections carry their own complete design, they don’t automatically borrow Horizon’s fonts, colors, and button shapes the way Horizon’s built-in blocks do. So right after adding one, it may not match the rest of your store yet. This is expected, and it’s a quick fix:

Fonts: open the section’s Typography settings and pick your store font (or enable the custom font option).
Colors: set the background, text, and accent colors to your brand under the section’s Colors settings.
Buttons: match the button color and roundness to your theme’s buttons using the section’s button settings.

💡 Tip: Set your fonts and brand colors once, and most sections will look right immediately. A few minutes of styling is normal for any premium section on a fresh theme.

What works out of the box

Content and layout sections, such as heroes, sliders, feature grids, testimonials, comparison tables, FAQs, and banners, render correctly on Horizon and only need the light styling above to match your brand.

Product-page and cart widgets

Horizon handles the buy button, variant picker, and cart differently from older themes. We are actively certifying our interactive product-page widgets (such as sticky bars, timers, and add-to-cart helpers) for Horizon. If one of these doesn’t behave as expected on your store, it’s the fastest thing for us to help with directly.

Good to know

Your purchased sections are yours to keep. Pay once, no subscription, on Horizon or any other theme.
Sections live in the specific theme you add them to. If you switch to Horizon from another theme, re-add them in the new theme (see Add Purchased Section To Theme).
