How AI Credits & AI Features Work

Section Store uses AI in a few different places, and each one works a little differently. This guide explains, in plain terms, what is free, what uses credits, how credits refresh, and how to get more.

Section customization credits

These are the credits used when you open a section and choose "Customize with AI". Each AI customization uses 1 credit. There are two kinds:

• Monthly Plus credits: while you are subscribed to Plus, you get a fresh 15 credits at the start of every billing cycle. These are use-it-or-lose-it. They do not roll over, so any credits you do not use expire on your renewal date and are replaced with a new 15.
• Per-section credits: every section you purchase adds 2 credits. These are tied to that specific section, so you can only spend them customizing the section you bought them with. They never expire, and they are used up first, before your monthly credits.

AI Conversion Blocks Setup

This is the "Set up with AI" tool that builds a conversion-optimized buy box for a product. Every store gets 5 free setups in total. This is a one-time, per-store amount, not a monthly one. A setup only counts when it finishes, so if a run fails it does not use one of your 5.

After the free 5, you can buy more at $5 for 10, as many times as you like. Each pack is a one-time charge and appears on your Shopify bill as a separate app purchase, not as part of your subscription. Buying packs requires an active Plus subscription.

Bundles and Cart Drawer AI

The AI assistant inside Bundles and the Cart Drawer is unlimited, and it works even before you subscribe to Plus. Just describe the change you want ("match my brand colors", "improve the shipping bar") and it updates the widget for you. Edits apply to the preview instantly and you can always undo.

How to get more credits

• Buy more sections - each section adds 2 credits you can use on that section.
• Stay subscribed to Plus - your 15 section-customization credits refresh every billing cycle.
• Buy an AI setup pack - $5 for 10 more AI Conversion Block setups (active Plus required).

There is no way to buy section-customization credits on their own yet. For now, you top those up by buying sections and through your monthly Plus refresh. This may change in the future.

Why is it asking me to pay $5?

You have used your 5 free AI Conversion Block setups. Those are 5 per store in total, not per month. The $5 pack adds 10 more (active Plus required).

Do my credits reset each month?

Your monthly Plus section-customization credits do: you get a fresh 15 at the start of each billing cycle, and unused ones do not carry over. The 5 free AI Conversion Block setups do not reset, they are a one-time, per-store amount.

I have not used any credits, but it says I am out.

Different features draw from different pools. The AI Conversion Blocks Setup has its own 5-free lifetime count, separate from your monthly section-customization credits. If the app is asking for $5, that is the setup count, not your monthly credits.

I am not on Plus. Can I use the AI?

Yes, partly. The Bundles and Cart Drawer AI is unlimited for everyone. You also get 2 section-customization credits for each section you buy. The monthly 15 credits and the $5 setup packs are Plus-only.

I canceled Plus. Where did my credits go?

The monthly credits come with the subscription and stop when it ends. The per-section credits (2 per section you bought) stay with you.

Where do I see my remaining credits?

A live balance view inside the app is on the way. For now, the app will let you know when you are out, and you can work out your allowance from the rules above. If you think something is off, contact us at daniel@section.store or help@section.store and we will check your balance.
